How it began

It started with me sitting on an old stool at the back of my house in sligo peeling potatoes before I could have ever dreamed of working with elite teams like Dublin Football and Leinster Rugby!

What time teaches you is that everyone starts somewhere and if you dream big enough and work hard enough you can achieve great things

We have a shared sense of satisfaction from seeing people building confidence in their skills, understanding what makes them perform and of course what does not work.

Firstly, anyone can be a high performer. High performance is a ‘mindset’, health and wellbeing are closely interlinked. It means understanding and executing all the elements that allow you to be at your best on a daily basis. Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress and recovery management to deal with the daily demands of life, work or sport.

Food is powerful when used well, we want to help you harness that power to unlock your potential in life or sport.

Now it’s about a collective voice, a team, with shared ambition and values who want to deliver a message about the profound value of good food for health and performance.

The conversation starts with food and has evolved into something we really couldn’t have anticipated.

A holistic view of how things in your lifestyle fit together for better everyday performance.

We have built our identity on the core values of Evidence, Practical and Fun.

Evidence – Nutrition guidance and strategies are only build on a solid foundation of scientific evidence

Practical – it must be achievable and be something you can do everyday

Fun – It must be enjoyable or it won’t be sustainable

Our process

I have worked as a performance nutritionist for over 12 years now. The key thing that I have learnt from my experience in elite sport and private clinics, is that no matter what you want to achieve the principles for success are the same.

You need the appropriate knowledge, skills, and mindset to live in a way that gives you the best chance to thrive in your life or performance arena.

The daveynutrition team are people that aim to understand the challenges that people have when it comes to their lifestyle and nutrition and help people find the solutions for those challenges.
We do NOT just tell you what to eat.

We help you understand the principles of nutrition, the science behind those principles and help you find the most effective ways to implement those principles for better health and performance.

Through this approach people can learn to deal with barriers, enjoy food and manage the challenges and adversity in life because no plan a person gives you can navigate all of life’s challenges.

Eva aims to untangle your frustration around nutrition by guiding you on the right path to achieve and sustain your goals by unlocking new skills to meet your true potential.

Eva is a performance Dietitian who has worked in the clinical health care setting providing nutrition support to patients with a range of different diseases. Eva is now currently working full time as a performance dietitian and is working with the Dublin Senior hurlers as well as individual athletes providing them with the education and skill set to maximise their performance and reach their potential.

Eva's passion for performance-based sports nutrition developed from her own personal experience playing Gaelic football. Eva now trains and competes in Crossfit where her own personal experiences have led her to understand the pivotal role that nutrition plays in performance enhancement, injury prevention and management, recovery from exercise and body composition. Outside of sports Eva also loves to cook and create new recipes to support her health and sports performance.

I believe food is so much more than numbers and nutrition is so much more than food.

Through my work with individuals, athletes and sports teams, I aspire to facilitate a growing understanding and appreciation for food and all it has to offer us.

My name is Heather, I am one of the Nutritionists with daveynutrition. I am fascinated by nutrition, performance and psychology! I love spending time in the kitchen, experimenting with new flavours and creating recipes that can not only bring enjoyment to me and those I share them with but can also help us reach our health and performance goals.

Food will always be a part of our lives and so why not learn to use it to our advantage. There is no denying the link between a person’s nutrition knowledge, cooking skills, physical activity, mental health and their physical health, sporting performance, recovery, body composition, relationship with food and risk of injury. I get so excited seeing people make these connections and evolve in these areas! I am very grateful to be part of a team who put that at the forefront of everything we do.
